A VISIT TO THE ISLAND OF MUSSULO!!
We can see this island from our house and have often wondered what was there and what was the history of this little island. We could see in tourism booklets that there was a resort/hotel. Our curiosity got the best of us and off we went to visit....
First we loaded onto a boat and headed out with Nistlers and Henrys for a 10 minute ride!!
Our destination is in sight!
When we arrived...
Enjoying the beach, the water and the residents.
Then we had to hop a smaller boat to get to the place in the island we wanted to go.
Here is the church we see from our living room.
This outside wall is made out of sea shells.
If you look closely you can see they even used sea shells in the cement for the inside walls.
Inside this old but very interesting building.
The well and one of the adjoining buildings
So, the story is... during the slave trade the prisoners were taken to this island where they were abused into submission. Then they were baptized into this church and shipped off to other countries.
